
New Delhi, October 9 (PTI) University of Lancaster and University of Surrey, gained a nod to establish campuses in India, announced during her first visit to India Prime Minister Keir Starmer in India.
The approval of both universities takes the number of institutions from the UK offshore campus in India for nine.
While the University of Southampton opened the campus in Delhi at the beginning of this year, the University of York, the University of Aberdeen, the University of Bristol, the University of Liverpool, Queen’s University Belfast and the University of Coventry will open the area next year.
According to the British High Commission, Prime Minister Starmer confirmed that the University of Lancaster and the University of Surrey were given approval to open new campuses in India to help satisfy their flourishing demand for higher education.
There are currently 40 million students at the University of India and 70 million seats are required by 2035. The world-famous university sector in the UK earns this demand by the fact that thousands of Indian students give a chance to study on the British title without leaving home-and at the same time strengthening the Indian economy by millions of pounds.
With the new campuses announced on Thursday, the United Kingdom will become a country with the largest college track in India.
Starmer and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated a milestone on Thursday at a meeting with the Vice President of the British Chancellor in Mumbai.
The British Prime Minister is on a two -day business mission to strengthen ties with one of the fastest growing economies in the world and return money back to the pockets of the hardworking British people.
“Our UK universities are admired worldwide for their perfection, high-quality research and innovation commitments. I am pleased that more Indian students will be able to benefit from British education in the near future-world-class link between our two countries and drawing millions back to our economy and supporting jobs at home,” Starmer said.
British education Minister Bridget Phillipson said British higher education is top and this expansion shows its global attraction.
“The opening of new campuses in India gives more young people a chance to benefit from British education and at the same time bring real revenues for our universities at home. When we are preparing to determine our international educational strategy, these new campuses are a brand of our ambition: building a long -term partnership that provides growth and opportunity for both countries.
University grants (UGC) announced the establishment and operation of campuses of foreign university institutions in India in 2023.
The University of Southampton became the first foreign university to establish its campus in India under regulations.
