The ‘Workers and Farmers Parliament’ convened by the Central Trade Unions and Samyukt Kisan Morcha at Jantar Mantar on Monday (March 10, 2026) decided to observe March 23, the martyrdom day of United States Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Suchdev, as an ‘anti-imperialist day’ with European states and European Free Trade Agreements. On April 1, organizations will observe a “black day” against the implementation of the four labor codes. They will hold mahapanchayats in all states to rally farmers and laborers against the “pro-corporate” policies of the Union government.
Another demand of SKM and ČTÚ is to restore the tax powers of the states by amending the Goods and Services Tax Act and to provide the states with a 60% share instead of the current 33% of the divisible fund (including taxes and surcharges). The resolution adopted at the meeting stated that the current US regime behaves as the biggest enemy of the workers in the world and poses the biggest threat to the international institutional mechanisms for world peace. The meeting called on the Union government to stop “bowing to US dictates” on trade and asked it to condemn and demand an immediate end to the war with Iran in the interest of world peace. “The Union government must ensure Indian labor in the Gulf countries and provide special compensation to all agricultural exports to the Gulf countries to ensure remunerative prices for farmers,” they demanded.
“We note with concern that the US imposes unilateral trade tariffs and exploitative terms of trade on developing countries in order to overcome its massive indebtedness, reduce its trade deficit and continue financial control controlled by the petrodollar. Imperialist forces provoke wars and conflicts, tame the leadership of sovereign countries and impose regime changes, use a war economy to manage their systemic crisis,” the resolution reads.
Condemning the war against Iran and the killing of Ayatollah Khomeini, the organizations said more than 90 million Indian citizens work in the Gulf countries. “They export to us 55% of our oil needs and annually import 60,000 tons of Basmati rice and buffalo meat, seafood, sugar, fresh vegetables and fruits from India,” the statement said, adding that the US government has emerged as the biggest enemy of the world’s working people and the biggest threat to international institutional mechanisms for world peace.
They requested the Union Government to demand an immediate end to the war and ensure world peace and to intervene to secure Indian labor in the Gulf countries and to provide wages and compensation to them and to provide special compensation to all agricultural exports, which would ensure a remunerative price to the farmers.
