Minister of State for Tourism Suresh Gopi on Thursday (September 17, 2026) lauded Kerala Chief Minister VD Satheesan and the UDF government for cooperating on projects he had proposed, saying the support given to him was not “available” during the previous Left Front government.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Gopi said that since the new government came to power, there has been a change in approach to projects.

“Look, now in terms of projects, ever since the new government came to power, Mr. Chief Minister has been very cooperative. Whatever is required from Mr. Chief Minister, he responds immediately,” he said.

“The support that the chief minister should give to an MP or a union minister for making things available to the public – which was not available for the last 10 years – is now being given,” Gopi said.

The Thrissur MP said the three projects under the Swadesh Darshan scheme were among his “dream” projects and were secured after he became a Union minister.

“In the files signed after I became minister in Swadesh Darshan 2024, three projects were my home projects. And they gave it. It was not there initially. It was fought for and it was secured,” he said.

Similarly, regarding the Thrissur Sakthan market and two other projects, Mr. Gopi said the concerned departments came forward after the Chief Minister gave the ultimatum.

“One has been received and the other two are yet to be received,” he said.

Asked about the LDF’s claim of a tie-up between the UDF-led Congress and the BJP, Mr. Gopi said no politics should be seen in the government’s cooperation on development projects.

“If Thrissur gets a project worth ₹99.7 crore under Swadesh Darshan, that will directly affect the lives of people and businessmen. When I say that the Chief Minister has supported and supported it, you don’t have to twist it and take it down any other way,” he said.
