Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurates ₹211 crore ESIC OPD block in Hyderabad

Union Labor and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Tuesday inaugurated the new outpatient department (OPD) block at the Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Medical College and Hospital in Sanathnagar. Built at a cost of ₹ 211.13 crore, the facility is expected to enhance healthcare services for more than 12.3 lakh policyholders and beneficiaries across Telangana.
Talking about the expansion of social security coverage, the minister said the number of ESIC beneficiaries has increased from around 7.5 million a decade ago to more than 15 million at present. Citing International Labor Organization estimates, he said social security in India has grown from 19% in 2014 to over 64%, covering about 94 million people.
The new OPD block has been built on a built-up area of 43,611.04 sq m and will provide outpatient services to 12,30,183 policyholders and beneficiaries from Hyderabad, Medchal Malkajgiri, Sangareddy, Rangareddy and Mahabubnagar districts. As an ESIC medical college and hospital, the facility will also serve policyholders from across Telangana.
