
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said on Saturday that this is the last media briefing of the Union Cabinet that Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the “Seva Teerth” complex to the nation, which was inaugurated earlier on Friday.
Seva Teerth houses the Prime Minister’s Office, the National Security Council Secretariat and the Cabinet Secretariat, which were previously located at different locations.
Vaishnaw added that the South and North Blocks were built by the British to maintain colonial rule in India and that we are happy that the last Union Cabinet meeting held in the South Block took place today.
During a media briefing on the decisions of the Union Cabinet last held at the previously known South Block building, Vaishnaw said, “On February 13, 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the new PMO office, ‘Seva Teerth’ to the nation. The South and North Blocks were built by the British to maintain colonial rule in India, but thereafter India 197 work continued in these buildings.”
“Since independence, the PMO has been working from the South Block office. We are happy that today the union cabinet meeting is being held in this South Block office for the very last time,” he said.
A day earlier, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated Seva Teerth and Kartavya Bhavan-1 and 2 in the state capital and said that these buildings were built to fulfill the aspirations of the people of the country.
Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said that a new history is being written and the day witnessed a new beginning in the path of development of India.
He said that as the country moves towards Viksit Bharat, it is vital that India gets rid of all traces of colonial thinking.
The Prime Minister emphasized that Vijaya Ekadashi has great significance in the scriptures as the decision taken on this day always leads to victory.
He said that with the determination of a developed India, everyone is entering Seva Teerth and Kartavya Bhavan. He emphasized that the divine blessings for victory in this goal are with them. He congratulated everyone including PMO team, Cabinet Secretariat and staff of various departments for Seva Teerth and new buildings. He expressed his gratitude to all the engineers and fellow workers associated with their construction.
