CPI National Council member JV Satyanarayana Murthy claimed that the Union Budget-2026 presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday has again failed in favor of Andhra Pradesh. No funds have been allocated for the South Coast Railway (SCoR) zone.
CPI leaders and activists staged a protest outside the Visakhapatnam railway station on Sunday.
Mr. Murthy told the gathering that he did not mention when the Visakhapatnam-based SCoR zone would be commissioned. The long-standing demand for night trains from Visakhapatnam to Bengaluru, Chennai and Tirupati has been ignored.
He further alleged that there is no clarity on the funding of the Polavaram project and no notification of allocation of funds for the development of the backward North Andhra region. He claimed the budget was “pro-corporate” and “anti-people”.
CPI state secretariat member A. Vimala, party president M. Pydiraju and SK Rehaman took part in the protest.
