It was 9:30 a.m. on a scorching hot April morning when L. Sundararajan, the CPI(M) candidate from the Tiruvottiyur constituency, began his campaign. The other party’s banners from the previous day are taken down and moved to make his campaign run smoothly.
Greetings to the residents of Periyar Nagar in Tiruvottiyur, Mr. Sundararajan, a member of the state committee, is contesting the elections for the first time. “Now they’ve highlighted me as a contestant and it’s been amazing to meet the public. They recognize me from when I was helping them,” he said.
