Delhi’s court ordered Tihar prison in the middle of the prison to appear before him. The court noted that detailed, Shahnawaz, was held in the same department as Agustawestland “Middleman” Christian Michel James. Shahnawaz has 41 complaints against him in terms of his behavior in prison.
The statement of the court came after Agustawestland “mediator” Christian Michel James claimed that they tried to poison him inside the prison.
Special Judge Sanjeev Aggarwal was previously looking for a report on the state of DG (prison), Tihar prison at the request of James over “specific serious accusations”.
The judge then ordered the official to report by April 16, 2025 with details on the measure after James equalized the accusation.
Who is Christian Michel James?
The probe agencies showed irregularities when buying 12 VVIP helicopters from the Italian manufacturing company Agustawestland.
Christian Michel was accused of being a “mediator” for alleged illegal transactions that took place in the case of Agustawestland Chopper fraud. He was among the three alleged intermediaries who were probed in this case and two of them are Guido Haschke and Carlo Gerosa.
Agustawestland scandal emerged in 2013 and revealed bribes allegedly paid to mediators and Indian officials for securing and £3 600 crore contract for 12 helicopters VVIP.
The investigation suggested that the specifications be changed to prefer Agustawestland, including changes in operational ceilings.
In June 2016, the Directorate for enforcement of law filed a charge against James and claimed that he had received EUR 30 million (euros ( £225 crore) from Agustawestland.
Christian Michel, a British national, was arrested in December 2018 after he was released from Dubai, where he spent four months in custody.
In February and March, the Supreme Court and High Court in Delhi awarded the bail to the British National Christian Michel in case of washing money associated with fraud Agustawestland Chopper.
