Russia and Ukraine delegations met on Monday in Turkey for the second round of direct peaceful interviews after a series of intensive attacks at the weekend.
The Ukrainian delegation was led by Minister of Defense Rust Umerov, while Vladimir Medinsky, assistant of Russian President Vladimir Putin, led the Russian side according to official reports.
Recent comments from higher officials in both countries indicate that they remain far from the key conditions for stopping the war, AFP reported.
The interviews took place at the Istanbul’s Ciragan Palace, with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan launched a formal address.
Attacks at the weekend
On Sunday, Ukraine reportedly launched an unprecedented attack on four Russian air bases thousands of kilometers apart and destroyed more than 40 war aircraft.
The air raid was unprecedented in its extent and geographical reach, focusing on the bases in the Russian Arctic, Siberia and the Far East more than 7,000 kilometers from Ukraine, AFP reported.
