Britain released Peter Mandelson, his ambassador to the US, after the controversy over his long -term connection with the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein broke out.
The Mandelson Association with Epstein has become the topic of distraction for Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who is under pressure from British politics.
“With regard to more information in -mails written by Peter Mandelson, the Prime Minister asked the Foreign Minister to withdraw him as an Ambassador,” the British Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The United Kingdom denied knowing Peter Mandelson’s relationship with Jefferey Epstein at the time of his appointment by the American Ambassador.
“E -maly shows that the depth and scope of Peter Mandelson’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein is significantly different from the e -mail, which is known at the time of his appointment,” the Foreign Ministry said.
The event came after Sun Newspaper and Bloomberg published e -mail, showing that Mandelson recommended Epstein to fight for premature release when he faced charges of applying for minors.
“In particular, Peter Mandelson’s proposal that Jeffrey Epstein’s first belief was unauthorized and should be attacked is new information,” the Foreign Ministry said.
What did Peter Mandelson’s letter say to Jefferey Epstein?
Mandelson, dubbed the “Prince of Darkness” for his maneuvering behind the scenes during the last reign of the Labor, had previously got to fire over his relationship with Jefferey Epstein after the Democrats were published at the Domestic Committee for Supervision.
The book represented a letter where the 71 -year -old veteran Labor Politic, who was the key to the success of the party under the former leader Tony Blair, called the sex offender “my best friend”.
In E -mail Mandelson, Jefferey told Epstein that “he follows you narrowly and here, whenever you need” and urged him to “remember the art of war” when he was dealing with prosecutors.
Mandelson also reportedly told Epstein to “fight for premature release” shortly before he got an 18 -month sentence for accepting a child for prostitution.
“I think the world of you,” wrote Epstein the day before the convicted sex offender.
On Wednesday, Mandelson said he had deeply regretted that Epstein had ever encountered that this association continued “much longer than I was supposed to do”.
