Deputy Chief Minister Udayanidhi Stalin ordered the authorities to restore free transport facilities for farmers to bring their production from their farms to Uzhavar Sandhai on Monday.
Farmers in the area of Periyakulam, who subjected the petition, said they lifted vegetables, fruits and other gardening goods and brought them to Sandhai in Theni. The government suspended a free bus facility after the Covid-19 pandemic.
As a result, farmers transported their production through their own passenger vehicles or carried them in the vehicle to pay from their pocket. Therefore, they urged CM representatives to consider and correct them.
The representative of the CM, who was here to evaluate the development work on the picker, led the discussion in the presence of Minister and Periasamy, head of IAS officials, including another main secretary Pradeep Yadav, another Secretary of RV Shajeevany, collector Ranjith Singh and other officials.
After consultations, he announced that the district administration would restore free transport facilities for farmers.
In the first phase, it was proposed that buses from the limits of Periyakulam Panchayat Union cover Jayamangalam on Pinnathevanpatti, Chokkathevanpatti and Annanchi since today (June 16). From tomorrow (June 17) it was proposed that buses transport agricultural goods from Mayiladumparai Panchayat Union covering Kadamalaigund to Nagalapuram.
In a positive mood, farmers thanked Mr. Udayanidhi with folded hands. Farmer Jafar Sadiq, who expressed relief, said that a quick government action today will help many marginal farmers save their hard -earned money.
Veeerakshmi, who gave similar opinions, another farmer said that buses were passing before Covid19 and have not been restored since then.
“I am very happy that the CM deputy immediately gave us so much relief,” she added.
A representative of CM gave assistance in the social area of 851 recipients worth 13.49 GBP in the presence of Thang Tamil Selvan, Mlas Cumbum n Ramakrishnan, KS Saravana Kumar, A. Maharajan and other rural members of the local body.
Previously, in addressing higher officials from various departments at the collection ofi, Mr. Udayanidhi said that in the last four years, led by CM MK Stalin, they have fulfilled a number of people’s promises.
“We will continue to do this in the next 10 months, after which the elections are caused by the state,” he said, thanking officials to play the role of the catalyst between government and people.
