Shelke Superintendent of Police Nachiket Vishwanath said policing will become more efficient and vigilant with the deployment of drone cameras.
After receiving two state-of-the-art drone cameras donated by Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL) on Wednesday, he said the drones would be deployed to check crime, curb anti-social activities and regulate traffic. Cameras worth ₹3,000 were donated as part of UCIL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity.
Mr. Nachiket highlighted the key role of technology-driven policing in curbing crimes like chain ripping, eve-teasing to prevent road accidents, theft and anti-social activities.
“VIP security measures, traffic regulation at key intersections and surveillance in sensitive areas will also become more robust with drone cameras,” he added.
The two advanced drones were handed over by UCIL Director General Suman Sarkar to Deputy Superintendent (Pulivendula) B. Murali for use within his jurisdiction.
