The state of Texas sued two Tylenol manufacturers, Johnson & Johnson and Kenvue, on Tuesday, accusing the companies of withholding information about the risks of consuming the drug for pregnant women and its link to autism.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton filed suit, saying the companies knowingly hid Tylenol’s risks, which he says are linked to autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
“Big pharma has betrayed America by profiting from pain and pushing pills regardless of risk. These corporations have lied for decades and knowingly put millions at risk to line their own pockets,” Paxton said in a statement.
The lawsuit comes five weeks after US President Donald Trump said that taking Tylenol during pregnancy could cause autism in children.
