
A Rayachoti court in Annamayya district on Tuesday sentenced a man to two years in jail and fined him ₹5,000 for trying to obtain a passport using forged documents. Principal Junior Civil Judge T. Suyodhana delivered the verdict holding the accused guilty of forgery and cheating.
The convict, Shaik Vaseem Akram of Aleemabad Street, Rayachoti, applied for an ECNR passport on November 5, 2023 by submitting a forged Class X Marks Report as a document. The Rayachoti City Police registered a case and conducted a detailed investigation.
A case was registered under Sections 420, 464 and 468 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The prosecution later proved the charges with documentary evidence.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Dheeraj Kunubilli praised the investigating officers, prosecution and court staff for securing the conviction of the culprit. He warned of strict legal action against attempts to abuse government systems through forged documents.
