A two-year-old boy died of alleged suffocation after a fire broke out in an air-conditioning unit at a residence in Kacheguda on Friday evening.
Fire officials said they received a call at 4:55 pm and rushed to the spot. When the flames were brought under control, it was confirmed that the child had died.
The incident took place in a house in Sundar Nagar. According to preliminary information, there was a fire in the air conditioning unit, which filled the room with thick smoke.
A child who was in the room at the time is believed to have suffocated from smoke inhalation and lost consciousness. Family members rushed him to a nearby private hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
The Kacheguda police have registered a case and are investigating the exact cause of the fire.
