A minor explosion occurred at the toilet complex of the Attukal Bhagavathy temple on Wednesday. Two people were slightly injured in the accident.
The incident occurred during gas welding work inside the facility.
The toilet block, which contains almost 25 units, was undergoing repairs at the time of the accident. Two welders injured in the explosion were taken to a nearby hospital.
According to official sources, the structure partially collapsed at the impact of the explosion. A preliminary assessment indicated that sparks from the welding process may have fallen into the septic tank area and likely ignited the accumulated gases to trigger the explosion.
