
Two supporters of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) were injured after an argument with a neighbor over bursting crackers as part of celebrations for the party’s victory in the recently concluded Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
Police said the injured persons were S. Kumar, 30, and his brother S. Pradeep, 26. They are residents of Annandapatti village near Jolarpet town. They were members of TVK in the area. Initial investigation revealed that along with other TVK supporters in the area, the two brothers had organized celebrations of the party’s poll victory by bursting crackers on the village road on Monday.
Police said the victim and neighbor C. Dhanasekar, 29, was returning home after work when he was allegedly injured by the crackers. He was interrogating two brothers for bursting crackers in a key section of the village despite public traffic.
Police said the brothers got into an argument with Dhanasekar and exchanged blows. Two brothers were injured in the fight. On being informed, the Jolarpet police inspected the spot. The brothers were admitted to the Government Taluk Hospital in Tirupattur town. A case has been registered. A probe is underway.
