Two constables at KP Agrahara police station have been suspended for alleged negligence in the discharge of duty, police said on Tuesday.
The officers were tasked with delivering summonses to persons connected to the control case. However, they allegedly failed to do so, leading to delays in the investigation. Due to the invalidity, the concerned investigating officer faced adverse remarks during the court proceedings.
The matter was brought to the attention of senior police officials, who ordered an investigation into the incident. After the investigation, both officers were suspended and a ministerial inquiry was ordered to initiate further disciplinary proceedings.
Police officials have expressed concern over increasing cases of carelessness, negligence, insubordination and corruption within the force.
In a recent incident, an inspector of KP Agrahara police station was caught red-handed by Lokayukta officials when he allegedly accepted a bribe from a realtor and moneylender in exchange for official favors. The police officer was prosecuted under the Prevention of Corruption Act, after which he was suspended from duty.
