
Two people died in separate road accidents in Vellore on Thursday.
Police said the dead were identified as S. Madan, 40, who runs a travel agency office in Vellore, and Mohammed Kareem, 42, a taxi driver.
Initial investigation revealed that Madan was returning from work on a road flyover when he suddenly lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the retaining wall of the bridge. He jumped off the two-wheeler and fell on the road about 20 feet below the bridge. He was rescued by other motorists and admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital in Vellore, where doctors declared him brought dead. A case has been registered by the Vellore South police.
In a separate incident, Kareem was riding his two-wheeler to his office in Shenbakkam when he was hit by an unidentified vehicle. He died on the spot. On the tip-off of the residents, the Vellore North police rushed to the spot and a case was registered. Another probe is underway.
