Two migrant workers were killed and others were injured after Lightning struck at Kakkanampar in Chuzhali near Sreekandapuram on Tuesday afternoon on October 14).
The deceased were identified as 42 years, from Assam and Rajesh Mahananda (20) of Odisha. The workers went out of the quarry to lunch around 14:30 when they were hit by lightning. Although they were hurried to the private hospital in Sreekandapuram, they both succumbed to their injuries. Another worker, Gautham Roy, 40, from Assam, maintained serious burns and was admitted to Kannur Hospital Government Medical College Hospital. The inhabitants helped the injured and bodies to the hospital.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for Kannur and Malappuram, warned of heavy rain with storms in the next few hours. In eight other districts, including Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthita, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakula and Thrissur, the isolated heavy rains throughout Keraral will be yellow alerts, including Thiruvananthapuram.
