Two migrant workers sustained injuries when they were allegedly attacked by a group of six while they were unloading cattle near a meat shop at Karoda in Manjeswaram, Kasaragod on Saturday (February 14, 2026).
The alleged incident happened around 1.30am. The labourers, Dawood, 38, and Gurkhan, 45, both from Uttar Pradesh, brought the cattle from Palakkad. They were later admitted to Kumbala Cooperative Hospital.

In a statement to the police, the workers said that a group that came in an auto-rickshaw and a motorcycle attacked them saying that cattle should not be unloaded or slaughtered.
Locals who witnessed the alleged incident alerted the police. When the attackers learned that the police were on their way, they fled the scene.
Police are investigating whether the attack was pre-planned and whether there was an attempt to create tension in the area.
Manjeswaram Inspector Ajith Kumar said a case would be registered after recording the statements of the injured. Surveillance has been intensified in the area.
