Two people were killed and at least 12 were injured after rival gunmen began shooting at each other in the crowded center of night life in the capital Alabama on Saturday evening.
The woman was among those killed and at least two injured were children, one of whom suffered injuries threatening life, the head of the police department of Montgomery (MPD) James Graboys told the advertiser Montgomery according to the New York Post.
Police chief Montgomery James Graboys was quoted by Associated Press when he said the three injured were hospitalized by injuries threatening life.
The police were called around 23:30 (local time) to what Graboys described as “mass shooting”.
The videos showed chaos with alcohol bottles that the sidewalk on the street Bibb Street and Commerce Street plunged after filming.
What exactly led to launch?
The “mass shooting” allegedly happened in a busy tourist district in the city right after the football match between Tuskegee University and Morehouse College, two historically black universities in the state.
“There were two participating parties that basically shot at each other in the middle of the crowd,” Graboys told reporters. Sagittarius, he said, “There was no care of the people around them when they did it.”
“The shooting began when the fight broke out between two competing groups around 23:30 in the center of Montgomery,” Graboys said.
Fracas escalated into the battle for a running weapon that saw the perpetrators fired wildly into the crowd and hit the passers -by.
Graboys said that investigators had combed evidence and interviews with potential suspects, although no one was charged soon on Sunday.
“We will do everything we need to collect every evidence to chase anyone who is involved,” Graboys said.
No arrests were carried out. Twelve out of 14 victims remain in the hospital.
