
Two youths drowned in the sea in Puducherry late on Monday evening, while two others were rescued by the marine police.
According to the Chittoor II City Police, a group of four youths (all in their 20s), who work daily as punters in chicken centers in Chittoor, went to the Puducherry beach on Sunday on two motorbikes after a holiday for Maha Shivaratri. The young people arrived at the beach and spent time there until Monday evening. Near dusk they ventured deep into the sea despite the warnings of the locals. Two of them – Jaswanth and Sadiq – were washed away while the other two – Nawaz and Jayanth – were rescued by a team of marine police.
After an hour-long search, the bodies of the two washed-up youths were recovered and taken to a local hospital in Puducherry.
All the four youths, Jana Sena sympathizers, belonged to Ramnagar locality in Chittoor city. The police arranged to bring the bodies from Puducherry on Tuesday after the post-mortem. The Puducherry police have registered a case.
