The Prohibition and Excise Enforcement Team of Medak Division seized 12.81 kg of marijuana and arrested two persons in a raid near Muttangi in Sangareddy district on Sunday (November 2).
A team under the supervision of Assistant Superintendent of Prohibition and Excise K. Srinivasa Rao conducted raids along the service road from Muttangi to Indresham next to Atharva Convention Hall. The operation took place around 6 p.m
“The accused have been identified as Jadhav Ravi and Chawhan Raju, both residents of RC Puram, Patancheru. We have seized 12.81 kg of marijuana, a car and three mobile phones from them,” said an officer from the department.
The total value of seized property was estimated at ₹4.5 lakh, including marijuana worth ₹3.2 lakh, ₹1 lakh for a vehicle and ₹30,000 for mobile phones.
Deputy Commissioner of Prohibition and Excise Enforcement, Medak, G. Srinivas Reddy, said the accused were found in possession of the contraband and were preparing to sell it when the team nabbed them.
“Further investigations are underway to trace the source of the contraband and identify potential links in the supply chain,” the officer added.
