The Kandali police were arrested by two persons for illegal sand mining from the Dry River bed in the Natham Village Palalar near Jolarpet Town in Tirupatura on Tuesday.
The police said the arrested persons were identified as G. Vijay (27) and J. Murali (41), the inhabitants of Jolarpet Town. Based on the warning, the Special Police Team Natrampalli – Tirupattur was guarded by the main road on the outskirts of Jolarpet. The team tried to stop Vijay, who was driving a truck charged with sand but were not able to.
However, the police chased him and turned the vehicle to the section. The team checked the vehicle and found illegal river sand. The initial survey revealed that the sand from the Palalar River along Chennai – Bengalur Highway (NH 48) illegally mined to sell it to private suppliers in the city.
A case was registered. Along with him, he was also arrested by another suspect, Murali, Earthmover driver. Police confiscated trucks with sand and the land assembly. The duo was submitted in a flexible faith in Tirupattur. The probe is running.
