Nagaroor police have arrested two persons in connection with the electrocution of a man and his son near a tapioca plantation.
It was found that the electric fence was illegally installed around the field by accused persons Venugopal Potti and Gopalan who own the plantation lands. The pair were accused of installing an unauthorized electric fence that led to the deaths.
The deceased, Kochunnu and his son Akhil of Chenkikkunnu, were found dead near the plantation on Tuesday. They were found to have died of electrocution.
However, it was found that the wire trap, allegedly installed to ward off crop-attacking animals, including wild pigs, had been disconnected from power by the time the police team reached the spot. Officials of the Kerala State Electricity Board and the Electrical Inspectorate have also launched an investigation into the incident.
