Two furniture shops were burnt down near the Medchal check post early in the morning

A major fire broke out in two adjoining furniture shops near the Medchal check post on Sunday (October 4), destroying furniture and other material stored inside the businesses.

The fire department received a call at 1:22 a.m. after which two fire tenders, each from Shamirpet and Jeedimetla fire stations, were rushed to the spot.

The fire is believed to have started in one of the furniture stores before quickly spreading to an adjacent business. Thick smoke from the shops alerted residents and passers-by, who informed the fire department.

Firefighters battled the fire for about an hour before bringing it under control. No injuries or casualties were reported. A large amount of furniture and other goods were destroyed in the fire, although officials have yet to estimate the value of the damage.

The police also arrived at the scene and started an investigation. Preliminary findings indicated that the fire could have been caused by an electrical short circuit, but the exact cause has not yet been determined by the police and firefighters.
