On Monday, two people are worried on Monday in an accident in a stone quarry in Payanamon, near Konno, Pathanamthitta.
The rescue staff renewed the body late in the evening, after several hours of intense search effort. However, the identity of the deceased has not yet been officially confirmed. Officials identified two individuals who are assumed to be imprisoned under the debris like Mahadev Pradhan (51) of Odisha and Ajay Kumar Rai (38) of Bihar. Rescue operations continued late in the evening, but due to bad weather and poor visibility were removed until 19:30. Operations also hindered intermittent rocks in place.
The sources said two other workers who were imprisoned on the other side of the rock were eventually rescued. The continuous rock on the spot cut off their way and let them escape without help.
She reportedly appeared when the massive boulder relaxed and fell on the excavator. Preliminary reports suggest that workers were inside the excavator at the time of the collapse. During a routine digging work, the boulder collapsed.
The rescue mission is carried out by the joint team of the national strength of the reaction to disasters (NDRF), police and staff of fire and rescue services.
“The accident occurred shortly after the workers returned from lunch and continued their shifts. Although they were informed immediately, reaching the accident site proved to be extremely difficult for the accident team,” the clerk said.
The license expired
Meanwhile, questions about safety standards were raised in the quarry. The accusation emerged that the unit license expired on June 30 and a complaint about it awaits Panchayat.
The quarry extends over the area of 120 hectares.
