According to the police, in one case, Sushelamma (69) was alighting from a BMTC bus at Govindaraja Nagar stop when the bus moved. She lost control, got under the wheels and was crushed to death.
The Vijaya Nagar police registered a case of the driver’s death and impounded the bus. The driver told the police that he did not notice Shushelamma getting down.
In another incident, a 65-year-old vegetable vendor was killed after he was allegedly run over by a speeding BMTC bus at Madiwala market on Thursday. The late Venkataramanappa, a resident of Roopena Agrahara, was crossing the road.
A bus coming from Krupanidhi Junction collided with a lorry and hit a pedestrian. Police arrested the driver, who reportedly told police he was unable to brake there due to a technical snag that resulted in the accident.
