Two people died, while the three were critically injured after being hit by landslide on the Kedarnath Trekking route in Uttarakhand on Wednesday.
According to the RudraPrayag district administration, land was landlished at 11.20 in the morning near the jungle Chatti Ghat, which caused boulders to reduce the slope that hit the pilgrims and operators of the bunk.
This is the second fatal soil incident on the Jungle Chatti Temple route after the pilgrim died on Sunday on Sunday.
The dead were identified as Nitin Kumar and Chandrashekhar, the inhabitants of Jammu and Kashmir who came to Uttarakhand in May to operate the Pianquin service on the Kedarnath route.
The injuries were identified as Sandeep Kumar, Nitin Manhas, Pianquin operators from Kashmir and Akash Chitriya, Pilgrim.
“When a landslide hit them, those who fell in contact into the gorge. Police and SDRF staff plunged into a place and started searching and rescue operations,” said Nandan Singh, a district catastroph officer.
He added that the rescue teams took three hours to pull the bodies out of the deep ravine and injured to hospitals.
The administration urged pilgrims who take Kedarnath Yatra to regularly check the weather information and follow the trekking instructions. Officials recommended people to make extreme caution on mountain routes and in the event of any emergency situation, contact the nearest help center or help line number.
Char Dham pilgrimage in Uttarakhand consists of temples of gangotri, yamunotri, Badrinath and Kedarnath. According to the Ministry of Tourism, Yatra took over 30 lake pilgrims this year, among which Kedarnath visited approximately 11 lakhs.
