Two dead at Gokarna beach, one missing

Two IT professionals from Bengaluru drowned on a beach near Gokarna in Uttara Kannada on Sunday, while another went missing.

A team of 16 employees from Alorica Ecospace came for a holiday at Koje Resort near Dubbanshashi Beach near Gokarna.

In the morning they entered the sea waters, but were caught by strong waves. Twenty-two-year-old Shobha Das from Jamshedpur and Mohammad Akram from Bengaluru drowned.

Fishermen and local residents brought them ashore and took them to a hospital in Gokarna. Shobha Das died at the hospital while Akram died on the way to the hospital in Manipal.

Twenty-four-year-old Vishwa AK, who went missing, has not yet been traced.

Gokarna police have registered a case.
