Two CRPF jawans of the CoBRA battalion sustained serious injuries in separate blasts of improvised explosive devices in Saranda forest in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district during a search operation on Sunday (Dec 14, 2025), a police officer said.
The IEDs were suspected to be planted by Maoists.
West Singhbhum Superintendent of Police Amit Renu told PTI that two jawans of the CoBRA battalion were part of a team involved in a search operation against Maoists in Saranda forest when the IEDs exploded.
“Both the jawans were airlifted to a private hospital in Ranchi for better treatment after basic treatment at the CRPF barracks,” the SP said.
The two injured men were identified as Head Constable Alok Das and Sepoy Narayan Das.
The SP said, “It is an act of desperation by the Maoists. We will intensify search operations in Saranda forest.”
