
On Saturday, two children drowned in the pool, which operated Anada Panchayat in Nedumangad in Thiruvananthapuram. The deceased were identified as Shinil Sunil, 15, and Aromal, 13, Class X and Class VIII students at the government technical high school, Nedumangad, Mancha. Both are the inhabitants of Kusharcode.
According to Nedumangad, the incident occurred in an outdoor in Anad Panchayat around Saturday noon. The local pond owned by Panchayat was used for swimming daily in the morning and evening. Seven children, including these two victims, allegedly entered the locked compound of the pool by climbing over the protective wall after swimming in the morning. Children were not part of the dose that went through the pool training.
When both children began to fight in the water, their friends tried to save them and screamed for help. However, the children drowned before the local people reached the place. Although the staff of fire and rescue services rushed to the hospital Nedumangad Taluk, they were declared dead.
The bodies will be handed over to families after the post mortem in the Thiruvananthapuram Government Medical College Hospital, the police said.
