Two Bengaluru students emerge first and second from Karnataka in JEE (Advanced)

Two students from the city made it to the top 20 to become Karnataka’s first and second toppers in JEE (Advanced) 2026, the results of which were declared on Monday.
Aryan Ragupathy, a student of Emerald International School, Bengaluru, has secured the 12th rank in the Common Rank List (CRL) of the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay zone, emerging as the state’s topper.
Manu Parameshwaran, a student of Narayana Olympic School, Sahakar Nagar, Bengaluru, bagged 13th rank in the CRL of the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay zone and emerged as the second best state representative.

Aryan’s father, mother and elder brother are all engineers and with their inspiration he also opted for Computer Science Engineering (CSE) at IIT-Bombay. Manu’s father and mother are also engineers and he chose to study CSE in the same institution.
IIT-Roorkee on Monday released the results of JEE-Advanced 2026. However, this year too, no student from Karnataka made it to the top 10 list.
Aryan shared his happiness with The Hindu and said, “It was really challenging but I am very happy that I could do it. I scored 310/360.”
“Joining an IIT was my childhood dream and now it has come true. I secured 94.8% in class 12. I studied for 6 hours every day. Then I slept for 6-7 hours. I also went to play cricket every day. Apart from that, traveling and watching OTT content was also a part of my routine,” he said.
Manu, who scored 310/360 in this year’s JEE (Advanced), said, “I plan to join IIT-Bombay for its CSE and plan to work in engineering.”
A total of 1,79,694 candidates appeared for Papers 1 and 2 in JEE (Advanced) 2026 held on May 17. 56,880 candidates qualified in this exam. Of the total number of qualified candidates, there are 10,107 female candidates.
Shubham Kumar from IIT-Delhi zone is the highest ranker in CRL. He scored 330 out of 360 points. Arohi Deshpande from IIT-Delhi zone is the top candidate with CRL 77. She scored 280 out of 360 marks.
