On Sunday, the police introduced two university students from Bengaluru on the lake below the border of the Ramanagara police station.
The deceased were identified as Nishanth, 20, and Siddarth, 21, both students of the bachelor administration (BBA) at a private university in Bengalur.
Preliminary investigation revealed that six friends arrived in the district of Bengaluru South (formerly known as Ramanagara) in SUV on Sunday morning and spent the day wandering around. Around 16:20 they visited the Avverahali lake and started playing near WaterBody, the policeman said.
“Nishanth, who didn’t know how to swim, slipped and fell into the lake. Siddarth entered the water to save him, but both drowned,” the officer explained.
Their friends immediately called for help and the rescue teams threw themselves into the place. While one body was renewed quickly, the other lasted almost two hours.
“We informed our families about the incident. The bodies will be handed over after postmort,” another officer said. “We are not sure whether the two went to swim or played only on the lake and photographed. Once the situation settles, we challenge four more friends to collect more details.”
