Parts of Kerala will continue to experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds influenced by weather systems in the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal.

According to a weather bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday (October 20, 2026), a well-marked low pressure area persists over southwest Arabia. Although the system is moving west-northwest off the Kerala coast, the associated circulation is expected to trigger isolated heavy showers over the state.

Further, two back-to-back low pressure systems are expected to form over the Bay of Bengal in the next three days, the first in 24 hours and the second by October 23. Although these systems are not directly interacting with the Kerala coast, they will produce fairly widespread showers over the state during the next four days as the development of weather systems could affect the moisture and wind patterns over Keralam.

A yellow alert was issued for seven districts from Thiruvananthapuram to Ernakulam on Tuesday with isolated heavy showers expected during the next 24 hours.
