Kurnool police on Sunday (January 18, 2026) arrested two persons on charges of stealing batteries from parked vehicles and recovered 11 stolen batteries.
Kurnool Municipal Circle Inspector IV Vikramsimha said the accused stole batteries from cars, tractors, drilling vehicles and earthmoving machines parked in Santosh Nagar, NTR Buildings, Udyog Nagar and Weaker Section colonies in the last one month. Three cases were registered in the territory of IV. city and the police reviewed the CCTV footage to nab the accused.
The police found that Sudhakar and Mahendra from Chenchu Nagar in the city were involved in the theft of batteries and nabbed them at Gooty Petrol filling station on Sunday. When questioned, they admitted to stealing batteries from 11 vehicles that were found.
