Two arrested for selling marijuana in Patancher

EAGLE Force along with Patancheru police arrested two interstate drug dealers for selling marijuana to local laborers near a dairy farm in Kardanoor village, Patancheru on Saturday (October 31). Police seized 1,150 kg of marijuana worth ₹57,000 from them and arrested four users.

The accused have been identified as Sanchit Roy, 50, a laborer at Govind Rao Dairy Farm, and Mahesh Kumar, 32, a watchman at Devi Parking Yard opposite the dairy farm. Both are natives of Patna, Bihar.

According to the police, Roy had been working in a dairy farm for the past three years and was earning ₹20,000 per month. Kumar moved to Hyderabad about two years ago and was allegedly helping Roy sell marijuana last year.

Police said Roy developed a habit of consuming marijuana in Bihar and came in contact with Kishan Singh, a resident of Dhoolpet, who allegedly supplied him with the drug.

Taking advantage of the large number of migrant laborers from Bihar, Assam, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh working in the surrounding areas, Roy allegedly started procuring marijuana from Singh at ₹20,000 per kg. He would divide it into five-gram packets and sell each for ₹300, assisted by Kumar.

According to investigators, over the past year, Roy has allegedly become a well-known dealer among marijuana users in the locality, with around 20 to 30 people approaching him daily. The number reportedly rose to 50 to 60 on Sunday.

Acting on specific information, the police raided a dairy farm while Roy and Kumar were selling marijuana and arrested them along with four consumers. About 10 other consumers were also identified during the operation.

The alleged contractor Kishan Singh of Dhoolpet is absconding and efforts are on to trace him.
