The Eluru district police have arrested two persons for allegedly selling fake ‘darshan’ tickets at the Chinna Tirupati Venkateswara Swamy temple.
The police launched an investigation after the managing director of the Dwaraka Tirumala temple, Y. Bhadraji, lodged a complaint about fake ‘darshan’ tickets. The racket came to light when temple staff spotted 61 fake ‘darshan’ tickets worth ₹200 on March 15 at the scanning point.
“We have arrested the outsourced employee S. Seshubab and the private security guard M. Satish who issued the tickets,” Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) D. Sravan Kumar told Eluru.
“The main accused in the case is absconding. We are trying to find out if any other accused was involved in the scam and for how long the accused was issuing fake ‘darshan’ tickets,” the DSP told The Hindu on Saturday (March 28).
