Two 17-year-old students sexually assaulted at party, two booked under PoCSO
Two 17-year-old female students were allegedly sexually assaulted after they were forced to consume alcohol at a party in Balanagar on the night of October 1. Police have registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO) against two juveniles in connection with the incident.
The suspects have been identified as Ganesh alias Ghana (19) and Tarun (26), who is married. Ganesh was in a relationship with one of the victims and invited her to a party. She took a friend with her.
According to Superintendent of Police Madhur Nagar H. Prabhakar, after taking the two students to the spot, the youths allegedly forced them to consume alcohol before sexually assaulting them. “The students drank one beer each. One of the victims later fell ill and was taken to the hospital, where a possible sexual assault was suspected,” said the police officer, adding that when asked, the students revealed what happened. Their statements were subsequently recorded at the Bharosa centre.
The students were admitted to Madhuranagar hospital after the incident. They later approached the Madhuranagar police and filed a complaint, on the basis of which a case was registered and an investigation started.
The case will be handed over to the Balanagar Police based on jurisdiction.
