The Chhattisgarh police said on Monday (May 12, 2025) that they identified 20 Maoists who were killed at a recent anti-naxal operation along the Chhattisgarh-Telangan border in Bijapur in the last few days.
The police officer said that 31 Maoists were killed in the operation, which started on April 21, and was held along Karegutta hills.
“Of the 31 bodies acquired at a meeting that took place in the border areas of Bijapur in the last few days, a total of 20 bodies have been identified so far,” the police statement said. He added that after completion of postmort and other legal formalities, families were handed over to families.
“The process of identifying bodies of the remaining 11 Maoists is underway. After completing the identification process, their bodies will also be handed over to families,” the statement said.
