Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay announced a series of campaign promises on Wednesday, March 4, ahead of the Tamil Nadu assembly elections. Among the promises are the waiver of farm loans and the provision of financial support for the education of farmers’ children. At a meeting of party functionaries in Tamil Nadu’s Thanjavur city, Vijay also promised security for fishermen and a transparent, corruption-free government.
He announced a loan waiver for farmers with five acres of land, among other survey promises. Vijay also asked the people of Tamil Nadu to give him a chance to rule the state.
The TVK boss said, “To others, it may seem like an ordinary election, but to the people who love me and me, it’s an emotion, an ocean of emotion.” Elections to the 234-member Tamil Nadu assembly are likely to be held in April.
Announcing a series of promises, Vijay said that the TVK government will ensure that all projects are completed within five years.
He assured that the safety of fishermen will be fully ensured under the TVK government. “Listen to what I am saying, the next government will be the TVK government. Fishermen, stay hopeful, your protection will be fully ensured,” he said. Also read | TVK boss and actor Vijay’s wife Sangeetha Sornalingam files for divorce accusing him of extramarital affair
“In the TVK government, we will not just announce plans; we will try to complete all announced projects within five years. On the issue of fishermen, the Chief Minister sometimes writes letters and then goes to sleep. Real and emotional pressure is needed on the Union Government. The Sri Lanka Navy should not lay a hand on our fishermen. We must not allow them to touch our fishermen – it is their safety.”
Speaking about his film Jananayagan, the TVK chief said, “Many people have raised their voice in support. Even our Chief Minister has expressed his support. I thank them for that. Sir, you can try to silence me, but you cannot silence every Vijay in every household. They have already started their campaign.”
“Tamil Nadu elections are contested between Vijay and Stalin sir. Tamil Nadu is Vijay; Vijay is Tamil Nadu. The war is between TVK and DMK. There is a fake model of government today. Tamil Nadu is currently ruled by a stand-up comedy state government. This election will be historic and a miracle election,” said Vijay.
