Barely two years after its inception and a recent historic breakthrough in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), led by actor-turned-politician C. Joseph Vijay, is taking swift steps to strengthen its presence beyond Tamil Nadu.
The party, which has already established a foothold in Wayanad and Palakkad, has now launched its district unit in Thrissur, marking the next step in its Kerala expansion strategy.
The constituent meeting in Thrissur recently witnessed the participation of a large number of Mr. Vijay’s supporters who formed the backbone of the gathering. In its initial phase, TVK primarily reached out to members of the Vijay Fans Association and invited them to join the political movement.
Party organizers said the focus is on building a strong grassroots network by creating ward-level committees and engaging the public directly. They described the growing momentum as a fitting response to those who rejected TVK’s political prospects.
Efforts are also underway to bring more people, including women, into the fold. After Thrissur, the party plans to rapidly expand its presence across Kerala in the coming months.
