The flight to Jaffna was canceled due to bad weather
In related news, a plane carrying 44 passengers bound for Jaffna on Saturday was diverted to Tiruchirappalli due to bad weather in the northern Sri Lankan city, sources told PTI. As the weather did not improve and the delay stretched to more than three hours, the airline eventually canceled the service, according to sources.
The flight, operated by a private carrier, took off at 10:20 a.m. and shortly after takeoff, the pilot was alerted to “adverse weather conditions in Jaffna,” they said. The plane was subsequently diverted to Tiruchirappalli, adding, “Just now the plane has landed safely in Tiruchirappalli with all passengers. The flight will continue its journey as soon as the weather clears in Jaffna.”
