Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is considering pioneering a ‘Divine Plantation’ project on over 100 acres of land to grow auspicious trees required for ‘Dwajasthambham’, the holy flagpole, central Agama compliant Hindu temples.
TTD Board Chairman BR Naidu said the initiative would ensure availability of ritually consecrated, home-grown wood for temples managed and established by Hindu institutions.
The project, in line with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s vision, aims to link environmental responsibility with the preservation of ancient traditions.
According to the Agama Shastra, “Dwajasthambhams” must be made from a single mature sacred tree such as teak, Indian kin or selected species of Shorea, cultivated for decades and sanctified by prescribed rituals.
By planting these “temple trees” in their lands, TTD strives to ensure agamic purity, sustainability and self-sufficiency for future generations.
