Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) emphasized on the use of the highest quality rice in the preparation of ‘annaprasadams’ at the Lord Venkateswara Temple.
At a review meeting with rice millers on Thursday, TTD Additional Executive Director Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary called for the delivery of only premium rice to ensure that the devotees receive a healthy and tasty meal.
During the meeting, he directed officials to approve rice shipments only after ensuring careful sampling and boiling tests, strictly adhering to prescribed quality standards, and urged millers to submit monthly supply schedules to the authorities for better planning and uninterrupted supply.
At present, the daily requirement of rice for the temples run by TTD in Tirumala, Tirupati, Tiruchanoor and other places is around 20,000 kg. Rice is sourced in the ratio of 60:40 from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana rice mills under the supervision of respective state associations.
To maintain consistency, he asked officials to hold monthly virtual meetings and quarterly reviews with suppliers and conduct monthly food quality surveys by Srivari Sevaks for authentic feedback.
Mr. Chowdary also directed officials to work with the State Warehousing Corporation, FSSAI and CFTRI to further modernize and strengthen the TTD’s storage infrastructure, besides ensuring storage standards.
Senior officials from Anna Prasadam, Warehouse and Purchase Department attended the review.
