TTD grabs land for Sri Venkateswara temple in Assam
TTD Board Chairman BR Naidu and other officials took possession of a 10-acre plot for the construction of Sri Venkateswara Temple at Amerigog village in Kamrup Metropolitan District of Assam on Tuesday.
Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) took a major step towards establishing the first Sri Venkateswara temple in the North East and formally took over a 10-acre plot at Amerigog village in Assam’s Kamrup metropolitan district on Tuesday.
Government of Assam completed the registration process in favor of TTD and handed over the relevant documents to a delegation led by TTD Board Chairman BR Naidu.
The move follows the Andhra Pradesh government’s decision to set up replica Lord Venkateswara temples in all states and Union Territories. As part of this initiative, Mr Naidu met Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in Guwahati in August last year to initiate discussions on the project.
“The temple will come up in a picturesque valley between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. We will soon finalize plans to lay the foundation stone in consultation with the Andhra Pradesh and Assam governments,” Mr. Naidu said.
Mr. Naidu said the proposed Balaji Mandir at Maa Kamakhya land will be of immense spiritual significance and will provide an opportunity for devotees from the Northeast to offer prayers and fulfill their vows without having to travel to Tirupati frequently.
