
Custom officials at the International Airport in Kemegowda tried to smuggle 54 green iguanas, one common spotted cuscus, and two Greenfinch birds wrapped in check -in luggage on flight from Bangkok to Bengalur.
On Thursday, Sleuths arrested the accused passenger, identified as Ahmed Jasim, a native of Tamil Over as soon as he landed and tried to clean the bag.
The seized wild animals were sent back to Thailand on Friday, the officials said. The accused was booked according to the Act on Wild Game (Protection) of 1972, they added. Was taken in judicial custody.
Ahmed hid wildlife in boxes of cardboard wrapped together with chocolate and biscuits and other snacks, the officials said.
Sleuths said the accused was a mule and was directed to give the luggage check -in to the people waiting outside after confirming the code word.
