The Trump administration’s plan unveiled at the White House on Sept. 29 to secure and govern Gaza won strong support at the United Nations on Monday, marking an important milestone that provides global support for U.S. efforts to steer the war-torn region toward peace after two years of conflict, the AP reported.
Taking to Truth Social, Trump responded: “This will be one of the biggest approvals in the history of the United Nations, it will lead to more peace around the world and it is a moment of true historic proportions!
Trump’s 20-Point Gaza Peace Plan: What It Includes
- According to the BBC, Gaza will be transformed into a de-radicalized “terror-free” area that poses no danger to neighboring regions.
2. The territory will be rebuilt to improve the lives of the people of Gaza who have already gone through great suffering.
3. If both sides accept this plan, fighting will cease immediately. Israeli troops will withdraw to the agreed line in preparation for the hostage exchange, all military activity, including airstrikes and artillery fire, will cease and the front lines will remain firm until the conditions for a full, gradual withdrawal are met.
4. Within 72 hours of Israel formally agreeing to the deal, all hostages, living and deceased, will be returned.
5. Following the release of all hostages, Israel will release 250 prisoners serving life sentences as well as 1,700 Gazans detained after October 7, 2023, including every woman and child detained in connection therewith. Additionally, for every Israeli hostage whose remains are returned, Israel will hand over the remains of 15 deceased Gazans.
6. Once all the hostages are returned, Hamas members who have committed to peaceful coexistence and surrender their weapons will receive amnesty. Those who wish to leave Gaza will be allowed safe passage to countries willing to accept them.
7. Massive humanitarian aid will immediately flow into Gaza once the agreement is accepted. The level of assistance will at least correspond to the levels defined in the humanitarian agreement of January 19, 2025, which will cover infrastructure repairs (water, electricity, sewage), the rehabilitation of hospitals and bakeries, and the entry of equipment needed to clear debris and reopen roads.
8. The delivery and distribution of aid in Gaza will take place without interference by any party and will be managed by the United Nations, the Red Crescent and other neutral international organizations. The Rafah crossing will operate according to the same procedures as in the January 19, 2025 agreement.
9. Gaza will be administered by a temporary, apolitical Palestinian Technocratic Committee, which will oversee the day-to-day administration and provision of public services to the people of Gaza.
10. A Trump-led initiative to rebuild Gaza’s economy will be created with the help of a group of specialists known for creating several successful modern “miracle cities” in the Middle East, a report says.
11. A special economic zone will be created with preferential tariffs and conditions of access to be negotiated with participating states.
12. No resident shall be forced to leave Gaza; anyone who wants to leave is free to do so and is free to return. The plan encourages people to stay and participate in building a revitalized Gaza.
13. Hamas and other groups undertake not to participate directly or indirectly in the administration of Gaza. All military, terrorist and offensive capabilities, including tunnels and weapons factories, will be dismantled and prohibited from being rebuilt, the report said.
