Before meeting Alaska to discuss peace in Ukraine, the President of the United States Donald Trump threatened “serious consequences” on Wednesday, if his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin disagrees with peace. In another statement, however, Donald Trump also proposed a meeting between him, Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zlensky.
Donald Trump did not specify the warning he gave Putin, but warned only of “very serious consequences”. Previously, Trump warned against economic sanctions if his meeting with Putin on Alaska on Friday 15th August proved to be infertile.
Asked if Russia would face any consequences if Putin disagreed to stop the war after their meeting at Alaska, Trump replied, “Yes, they will.”
Asked if these “serious consequences” would be sanctions or tariffs, Donald Trump said, “I don’t have to say. They will have very serious consequences.”
